Celebrating 15 Years of First Responder Safety

It is with great excitement that the John Petropoulos Memorial Fund enters 2015, marking our 15th year of existence!

This year will include the announcement of new safety projects, the continuation of our effective safety programs and a number of fun events and campaigns.

It’s been a long ride since 2000. Along the way, we’ve seen the creation of our first public service announcement (Make Your Workplace Safe For Everyone), incorporation as a non-profit society in 2005, development of a Safety Presentation Program, registration as a charitable organization and the implementation of the John Petropoulos Leadership Award for Calgary police officers. We’ve also given away scholarships in John’s name, continued to create PSAs, distributed our 10-minute Put Yourself in Our Boots safety video, undergone a complete rebranding that included the redesign of our logo, launched social media campaigns and watched hundreds of volunteers help us with fundraising events.

Everything we’ve done over the last 15 years has been with our mission in mind. We have continually worked to prevent workplace injuries and fatalities to first responders by educating the public about steps they can take to protect these essential workers.

So, we have a lot to celebrate in our 15th year, and we will be looking back at our achievements and acknowledging them. But we also have a lot of work to do and we will keep doing it and keep striving to create safer roads and workplaces for first responders.

We also plan to celebrate our supporters, including those who have volunteered for us, donated to our cause and put our resources to use.

We aren’t ready to announce all of our 2015 plans yet, but we invite you to check back with us frequently and we thank you for your continued support over the years.
