Celebrate New Year’s Day with the Lieutenant Governor

On Friday, January 1, 2016, Lieutenant Governor Lois Mitchell and His Honour Doug Mitchell will be welcoming Albertans to Government House in Edmonton for their first New Year’s Day Levee. Members of the public are invited to join them in celebrating the longstanding annual tradition.

The levee is an open house-style event where guests can view historic Government House, enjoy music and light refreshments and meet and have a photo taken with Their Honours. Visitors will also have the opportunity to write a postcard of encouragement and support for Canadian Forces members serving overseas.

Doors will be open to the public Friday, January 1 from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM. The levee is suitable for all ages. An RSVP is not required.

Government House is located at 12845 – 102 Avenue, Edmonton (on the grounds of the now-closed Royal Alberta Museum). Free parking is available and Government House is handicapped accessible.
