Celebrate Longview’s 50th Anniversary: July 18 to 20 2014


IMG_1358Longview will be celebrating its 50th Anniversary at Little New York Daze this weekend. Longview was incorporated as a Village in 1964 however it truly has been in existence since the crazy days of the Oil Boom in the early 20th century!

There will be three amazing days of exciting events for all the family to enjoy, with visitors welcome. The Little New York Daze will incorporate the 50th Anniversary of the Village. Events start on Friday evening with the start of the weekend’s slo-pitch tournament and rodeo*. There will be full days of activities on the Saturday and Sunday with everything from a parade to historical displays, children’s events, shows and mutton bustin’, food events, rodeo*, etc on the Saturday. There will be a market in the park, music in the park, show and shine car show, etc on the Sunday.

*Note: The rodeo is located at the top of the hill just North of the Village (watch for the signs).

Friday July 18th

At rodeo grounds:

• 12 noon – Longview Stampede Slack

• (Beer Garden)

• 6pm – Rodeo Performance

6:30pm – Slo-Pitch Tournament – Runs all three days (For info call Bill: 403-558–2100)

Saturday July 19th

7 to 9:30pm – Breakfast at Fire Hall (reasonable price) Hosted by Dryland Sailors

8am – Parade Marshaling

9am to 3pm – Community Market along Main Street

10am – Parade Begins

11am – Slo-Pitch Tournament continues

11am to 3pm – Scout/Cub Food Stand at School Yard

11:30am to 5pm – Historical Display at Community Hall

12 noon – World War I Statue Unveiling at Veterans Memorial

12 to 3pm – Children’s Events At School Yard

12:30 to 3:30pm – Renegade Roper Hotel parking lot

12:30pm – Horse Rides courtesy of Blue Bronna at the school

12:30pm – Irish Dancers (school parking lot)

1pm – Millarville Musical Ride school yard

1pm – Longview Stampede Rodeo performance (at rodeo grounds)

2pm – Farrier Demonstrations at Firehall

2:30pm – Dime Store Fishman

1:30pm – Dog Show (30 minutes)

2pm – Horse Shoe Tournament

2pm – Guns of the Golden West (Hotel)

3pm – Mutton Bustin’ (School Yard)

4:30pm – Beef Supper at Firehall: $10 and $8
