CASS: Dr. John Hattie Presenting in Alberta

Dr John Hattie(EDMONTON) – The College of Alberta School Superintendents (CASS), in conjunction with the Alberta Regional Professional Development Consortiums and the Grande Prairie Public School District, is proud to host a series of presentations by Dr. John Hattie across Alberta during the week of August of 18 – 22, 2015

Dr. Hattie is one of the most renowned educational researchers in the world. He has been Professor of Education and Director of the Melbourne Education Research Institute at the University of Melbourne, Australia since 2011. He is the author of “Visible Learning” and “Visible Learning for Teachers.” As stated on the Visible Learning webpage, http://visible-learning.org/, “Visible Learning means an enhanced role for teachers as they become evaluators of their own teaching. According to John Hattie, Visible Learning and Teaching occurs when teachers see learning through the eyes of students and help them become their own teachers.”

Dr. Hattie will visit Lethbridge, Calgary, Edmonton and Grande Prairie to offer full day presentations in each city. The presentations will bring the research behind his Visible Learning work to life, and will be applied to the Alberta context. This will be a fantastic learning opportunity for all educational stakeholders: teachers, school and jurisdiction leaders, pre-service teachers, Faculty of Education professors, trustees, parents and Alberta Education staff.
