Canadian Angus National Convention Will Feature Industry Leaders and Producers From Across Canada
ROCKY VIEW, AB – The 2015 Canadian Angus National Convention will be held in Calgary, Alberta, June 4 through June 6. National Convention includes the Annual General Meeting for the Canadian Angus Association (CAA) coupled with tours, events and hospitality amongst industry leaders, reinforcing it as a must-attend event for progressive Angus breeders and for all cattlemen who utilize Angus genetics.
The event officially kicks off on the evening of June 4 with the President’s reception held at Angus Central, the new Canadian Angus national headquarters. Corinne Gibson, CAA President, will host this event and with light refreshments served. Speeches will be given by each of the Canadian Angus Foundation(CAF) Robert C. McHaffie Ambassador finalists throughout the evening, as part of the adjudication process for this title.
A Convention highlight is Commercial Cattlemen’s Connection Day on June 5. Open to the public, the CAA invites commercial cattle producers and industry representatives to attend the event. The day will begin with a panel discussion consisting of industry stakeholders, Rich Vesta, Rick Wright, Fred Taylor, Tom Fenwick, and Lyle Miller. Keynote speakers, industry Kent Anderson from Zoetis and Matt Sutton-Vermeulen from The Prasino Group will follow the panel discussion. Tours to Growsafe, Alta Genetics and Harmony Beef will commence in the afternoon and there will be a BBQ supper to conclude the evening at Angus Central.
June 6 features the AGM for the Canadian Angus Association and Canadian Angus Foundation as well as workshops with the board of directors and CAA staff. John Stika, President of Certified Angus Beef is the day’s keynote speaker. In the evening, the Convention banquet will feature the award presentations and the CAF “Building The Legacy 4” fundraiser auction sale. Upon conclusion of the sale, there will be a dance to continue the socializing.
