Canada Day at the Alberta Legislature

Canada Day at the Legislature offers free entertainment from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on July 1.

The Welcome Ceremony will kick off the event with a 21-gun salute at noon followed by pipe band performances, the singing of O Canada and greetings from our province’s leaders on the front steps of the Legislature.

The annual Legislature Building open house (12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.) will provide the chance to explore the building’s iconic architecture. Reserved for visitors only on Canada Day, the open house includes a special opportunity to walk the Chamber floor. Also included among the many interesting sights inside the building is the historic Legislature Library.

Open from 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m., the Legislative Assembly Visitor Centre features the Pehonan Theatre, the Alberta Branded retail store, the Agora Interpretive Centre and the Borealis Gallery, currently featuring Voices for the Vote, an exhibition highlighting some of the voices of Alberta’s suffrage movement.
