On February 26, the Town of High River and M.D. of Foothills will be conducting a mock disaster for our Emergency Social Services team. This will involve the set up and operation of a Reception/Evacuation Centre at the Legacy Regional Fieldhouse in Aldersyde.
In order to make this scenario more realistic for our ESS team, we are looking for 40-60 volunteer participants to play the role of evacuees who are seeking shelter at the Reception Centre. No acting experience is required, just come and register with our staff and receive a free lunch! This is a great opportunity to learn about the Emergency Management programs in our region.
Participants can drop in any time between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Thursday, February 26th at the Legacy Regional Fieldhouse east of the Highway 7 and 547 Junction, in the M.D. of Foothills. Lunch and snacks will be provided to all those who participate.
We are holding an orientation session to provide an overview of how the exercise will run and provide an opportunity to ask questions. There are two possible times: February 23rd from 1:00- 2:30pm and February 24th from 5:00 – 6:30pm. Both sessions will be at the Joint Administration Building at 309B Macleod Trail SW in High River.
Participants are welcome to attend an orientation if they would like more information or they can show up on the day of the exercise. To ensure we have enough food, please confirm your attendance by February 23 by emailing Megan Correia at mecorreia@highiver.ca or by phone at (403) 603-3551.
