From April 18-22 the Grade 6 class at C. Ian McLaren School explored careers and trades with 13 community businesses and trades as part of the new Grade 5-9 CTF program of studies. The students sought to answer the essential question of, “To what extent would this be a good career choice for me considering my interests and abilities?” Each student explored two different careers/trades of their choice and then analyzed their evidence to answer the question. Based on student and community feedback it was a huge success, providing students with new opportunities to explore and open their minds to the future. The school’s business and trades partners were absolutely amazing in working with the students – a huge thank you to all of them.
