Utilizing a website called Namaste Kid: Yoga for Kids, students in teacher Emily Miklos’s Grade 3 class at C. Ian McLaren are incorporating yoga into their daily routines. Each student chooses a yoga pose and teaches the rest of the class, explaining how it benefits breathing and the body. Students practice the poses throughout the day during recess, body breaks, Phys-Ed or whenever they need a quick stretch break. The students are currently working on the cactus pose, which releases tension in the shoulders and lower back, and stretches quadriceps and hip flexors.
