The dust has settled and the winners of the Bar U Old Time Ranch Rodeo have been announced.
In first place was Meadow Springs Ranch, holding onto the title, and in second place was Pekisko Creek Ranch followed by Esser Livestock. The Top Hand award went to Ryley Miller.
Meadow Springs Ranch will represent the Bar U at the Annual Heritage Ranch Rodeo in Edmonton, during Farm Fair International, this November. If you wish to attend the Ranch Rodeo competition takes place from November 4th to 6th.
This year there was a special addition to the rodeo with the visit by the Strathcona Mounted Troop performing their musical ride. This organization was on hand to commemorate the 100 years since the start of World War I.
The Rodeo competition demonstrates traditional ranching skills that are still used today on ranches throughout the country. Events include Broke Horse Racing, Team Sorting, Branding and Doctoring, and Wild Cow Milking. Teams of working cowboys from Alberta ranches compete for silver Bar U belt buckles……and bragging rights!
