Edmonton—May 6, 2015 Following last night’s election results, AUMA offers congratulations to NDP Leader Rachel Notley on her successful election as Premier-Elect of Alberta.
“I look forward to meeting and discussing our joint priorities,” said Helen Rice, AUMA President.
“A new political landscape in our province will create new opportunities to work together to ensure Alberta’s cities, towns and villages continue to thrive.”
For municipalities to effectively meet the needs of their citizens, AUMA has identified three key priorities for discussion with the newly-elected government:

2. Invest in municipal infrastructure, and
3. Build an effective partnership with municipalities through a modernized Municipal Government Act that allows for accountable and effective local decision-making.
“I would also like to thank Premier Jim Prentice for his service to Alberta and wish him all the best in his future endeavours, “said Rice.
Founded in 1905, the Alberta Urban Municipalities Association represents all of Alberta’s urban municipalities, including cities, towns, villages, summer villages and specialized municipalities, representing over 85% of Albertans.
