AUMA Congratulates New Minister of Municipal Affairs Danielle Larivee

Edmonton – Following yesterday’s announcement from Premier Rachel Notley, AUMA offers its congratulations to Minister Danielle Larivee on her appointment as Minister of Municipal Affairs.

“We look forward to discussing the needs and opportunities for Alberta’s municipalities with the new Minister” says AUMA President Lisa Holmes.

For municipalities to effectively meet the needs of their citizens, AUMA has identified three key priorities for discussion with the newly-elected government:

  1. Implement revenue options to ensure a more stable, diversified, appropriate and consistent tax environment,
  2. Invest in municipal infrastructure, and
  3. Build an effective partnership with municipalities through a modernized Municipal Government Act that allows for accountable and effective local decision-making.
