Edmonton — To celebrate being a key part of Apple Pay’s expansion in Alberta, ATB Financial is staging a never-before-seen building projection on the south face of its downtown Edmonton headquarters tonight.
Viewers will experience what happens when an 80-metre tall, 30-metre wide concrete building is transformed into a shining canvas brought to 4K life by 16 giant projectors pushing 80,000 lumens of ATB’s love for Alberta in a nine-minute movie event.
The first show is scheduled for 10 pm tonight. The shows happen again at approximately 10:15 pm, 10:45 pm, 11:15 pm, and 11:45 pm. The best viewing areas are south of ATB Place.
“We call it Apple Pay is here. And here is home. And it’s our way of doing something different to introduce Apple Pay to this province,” said Dave Mowat, ATB Financial President & CEO. “It’s a bit of North Saskatchewan River Valley and Bow Valley, meet Silicon Valley.”
The building projection traces a story path from the familiar landmarks of the province to the faces of its strong, hopeful, innovative people. In between, there are visual salutes, both weighty and whimsical, to our skyscape and landscape, our four seasons, our love of learning, our playgrounds, to the ways we move, to our love of life and light. And to a particularly curious fish.
“There’s some artistic product placement,” said Mowat, “and there is also, we hope, a sense at the end of it that Alberta is a place that produces some spectacular people and business and culture and recreation. We build cool stuff here. And rebuild. And keep building.”
Apple Pay for ATB MasterCard customers launched on May 10. Debit services are to be added in the fall, as is Apple Pay for Android devices.
Apple Pay is here. And here is home is the collaborative work of ATB Financial and Edmonton-based Production World.
