ASIRT Seeks Public’s Assistance

The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) continues to investigate the January 2, 2015 officer-involved shooting death in Grande Prairie and is seeking public assistance.

Grande Prairie RCMP responded to a report of an armed robbery at a convenience store located in Patterson Mall. Upon arrival, there was a confrontation with a man who was shot and wounded by police. He was taken to hospital where he later died.

ASIRT investigators are requesting the public’s assistance in locating anyone who may have witnessed the events that occurred at Patterson Mall in Grande Prairie on January 2, 2015 at approximately 1:15 a.m.

ASIRT is seeking to speak to occupants of a SUV, which drove into the parking lot of the strip mall located at Patterson Drive and 84 Avenue at approximately 1:15 am on January 2, 2015. ASIRT investigators believe that the occupants of this SUV may have witnessed events related to this incident.

ASIRT is a civilian-led independent investigative unit responsible for the effective, independent, and objective investigation of incidents involving Alberta’s police that have resulted in serious injury or death to any person, as well as serious or sensitive allegations of police misconduct.
