Canmore RCMP Investigates Residential Break and Enter

Canmore, Alberta – Today at approximately 12:20 pm, Canmore RCMP responded to a report of a residential break and enter after a witness said to have been attending a residence when they heard a “pop” from inside and observed a hole in one of the windows of the home.  The witness left the area, uninjured, and called police.

Initial investigation by police could not establish whether the suspect left the residence, therefore, Canmore RCMP cordoned off the area and limited access for public safety.

The RCMP advised Lawrence Grassi Middle School of the event to ensure that the students remained in the school and stayed safe. The RCMP Emergency Response Team and Police Dog Service were called to assist, and the residence was cleared safely with no sign of the suspect.

The RCMP continue to investigate, and are following a number of investigative avenues to positively identify and locate the suspect. Further information will be provided as it emerges.

The Canmore RCMP would also like to remind community members to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the RCMP at 403-678-5516 and assist in the safety of our community.

If you have any information regarding this or any other illegal activity, please contact the Canmore RCMP.  If you wish to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1.800.222.8477 or report it online at www.tipsubmit.com.  If the information leads to an arrest or recovery of stolen property, tipsters are eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000.00.
