High River, AB: Wondering how to thrive and not just survive as an entrepreneur? The Town of High River is pleased to announce that business guru, Arlene Dickinson, will be in High River to share her experiences in thriving through the highs and lows of being an entrepreneur. Spend an evening learning from one of Canada’s most successful communications and marketing entrepreneurs – CEO Venture Communications and YouInc.com as well as venture capitalist with CBC’s series Dragons’ Den, The Big Decision and marketing expert on Recipe to Riches.
“Small business forms the backbone of the Canadian economy and that is equally true for High River,” says Mayor Craig Snodgrass. “We recognize the valuable contribution that entrepreneurs and small businesses in particular make to our overall experience and quality of life in High River. Engaging Arlene to share her knowledge with our community is an important investment in our future.”
The Town is also encouraging surrounding communities and organizations that support and service business to attend the evening function. “Whether you are a start-up, growing business, a would-be-entrepreneur or an organization that supports entrepreneurs, there will be valuable insights for everyone,” says Sharon McCormick manager of planning – renewal operations, for the Town of High River. “We want all our partners, service organizations and neighbours to have a healthy, successful economy.”
“In my view, we are shifting to an entrepreneurial economy, but investors and the media haven’t quite caught up yet,” shares Arlene Dickinson. “Entrepreneurs are uniquely talented individuals who overcome incredible hurdles in order to succeed. I’m delighted to share what I have learned along the way and I commend the Town of High River for its foresight in supporting small business.”
The Highs and Lows of Being an Entrepreneur event takes place Thursday, September 25, 2014 at the Highwood Golf and Country Club, from 5:30-9 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online at www.highriver.ca or by phone through the Town of High River at 403.603.3500 (Monday-Friday 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.).
