Alberta RCMP Statement re: Ottawa attacks

“Today our thoughts and sympathies are with the victims of the attacks. These acts of violence impact all Canadians, and particularly the men and women who serve this country in uniform and their loved ones, “ said Deputy Commissioner Marianne Ryan, Commanding Officer of the RCMP in Alberta. “I want to assure all Albertans that the RCMP is working closely with our public security partners throughout Canada and beyond to ensure your safety. ”

Anyone with information related suspicious activities is asked to call the RCMP National Security Information Network at 1-800-420-5805. They can also contact their local police service of jurisdiction. If immediate police assistance is required, they should call 911.

The RCMP in Alberta will not be making further comment on the Ottawa attacks at this time. However, the RCMP will make every effort to ensure the public and the media receive the information they require to ensure public safety in the days ahead.
