Grande Prairie, Alta. – The RCMP investigation into the recent theft of police equipment from a parked police vehicle in Grande Prairie has failed to locate the stolen items. Police are now requesting the public’s help in locating the stolen items.
Sometime between 8:15 p.m. on Thursday, October 8th and 8:30 a.m. the next morning, one or more thieves broke into a police car parked in the area of 108 Street and 100 Avenue in Grande Prairie.
The stolen police items include the following:
- one RCMP issue Smith and Wesson 9 mm service pistol
- three RCMP issued magazines with ammunition for the service pistol
- one RCMP issued “ASP” extendable black police baton
The vehicle was locked when the theft occurred. The unloaded service pistol had a trigger lock device on it and was secured in a locked gun box which was secured in the locked police car.
Police are now asking anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area during those hours to contact them immediately. Anyone who may have information about the whereabouts of the stolen items is also asked to call police immediately.
