Alberta RCMP Calgary Major Crimes Investigation Shooting

 

In the early hours of February 23 2015, the Calgary Police Service was called to the Peter Lougheed Hospital in Calgary due to a reported shooting victim who died shortly thereafter. The investigation revealed that a home invasion robbery had taken place at a rural property NW of Carstairs. Three masked suspects entered the property and a struggle ensued with the occupants. One of the occupants was subsequently shot. Investigators believe that the property was targeted. The 67 year old male later died at the hospital, as a result of his injuries. Calgary RCMP Major Crimes are now investigating the incident. RCMP investigators are being assisted by members of the Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit. The male’s identity is being withheld at the request of his family members. A search of the rural property is being conducted later today. The autopsy has been scheduled for today at the Calgary Medical Examiner’s Office.  The investigation is ongoing at this time.
