Alberta Culture Days will once again be returning to High River from Friday, Sept. 26 until Sunday, Sept. 28. Artists of all disciplines, as well as local businesses, will showcase their wares and talents at a variety of venues across town.
“This has become an annual event in town and we are once again excited to showcase everything that High River has to offer related to arts and culture,” said Cynthia Farrow, community programming supervisor for the Town of High River. “There is everything from painting to pottery making, as well as music and other live entertainment.”
One of the featured venues is the High River Library that is currently operating out of a temporary location at 1225 1 Street S.E. (West of the co-op). They have an entire day of programming planned on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Activities include art displays, a writing workshop, fibre art, and several musical and dancing acts.
Another key venue is the Culture Centre (251 – 9 Avenue S.W.), where the High River Art Society will be hosting and displaying artists’ work throughout the day. Artists in watercolour, stained and fused glass, jewellery, acrylic and painted glassware will be providing demonstrations. Visitors will also have the opportunity to create their own watercolour or acrylic painting.
