Airdrie, Alberta – The RCMP in Airdrie charged a 25-year-old assistant basketball coach of the University Of Calgary Junior Dinos club program with sexual exploitation as a result of a complaint.
On July 1, 2016 the RCMP received a complaint about the suspect female and launched an investigation. On July 11, 2016 Kristie Sheils, currently of Calgary, Alberta was charged with one count of sexual exploitation of a young person. The name of the victim, who is a youth, cannot be released.
Sheils appeared in Calgary Provincial Court on July 12, 2016 and was released on a recognizance order to abide by release conditions which include:
Having no contact with the victim;
No contact with any children under the age of 18 unless in the presence of an adult who is at least 21 years of age;
Not to be employed or engaged in volunteer service which would put her in a position of trust or authority to children under the age of 18.
Sheils is scheduled for her first appearance in Calgary Provincial Court on July 14, 2016. As this matter is before the courts, further information about this investigation will not be released.
