Alberta Forest Products Association Q1 2014 Results
Forestry revenues up 7% in 1st Quarter 2014
Edmonton – Values of lumber, pulp and paper, and panelboard manufactured by Alberta Forest Products Association (AFPA) members totaled approximately $718 million for the 1st quarter of 2014. The value of production was up $47 million or 7% from the same period last year. Compared to the 4th quarter of 2013, production values increased by $39 million or 6%.
“Positive growth has continued for the forest industry,” said AFPA President and CEO Paul Whittaker. “We have worked very hard to develop markets for our products, make facilities as efficient as possible, and manage Alberta’s forests in a sustainable manner. These results reinforce the good work that has been done.”
