Last month Turner Valley’s very own Lori Cloakey-Collins of Cougar’s Sports Bar ran yet another successful Snowshoe Softball Tournament. Lori has been involved in running these tournaments for thirty years and there’s no-one better qualified.
Proof of this is in the fact that the tournament was a full-house and raised $3,000 for the Oilfields Food Bank. With the current economic downturn and the demands on the Food Bank this was a very welcome donation!
Eight teams of ten players each played on two ball diamonds in Turner Valley over the weekend and the winner was Team Swamp Donkeys.
A huge silent auction was held on the Sunday with some amazing donations from people and businesses.
Just for those nay-sayers who can’t imagine snowshoeing without snow – here’s the answer:
Lori, the Food Bank and the community thank you for your 30 years of devotion to this area.
