What To Do With The Kids® Launches Kickstarter Campaign to Complete Production of its New App for Sitters and Nannies

SitterAdvantage-LogoA new app from What To Do With The Kids® is in the final stages of production following the work done by Mobile Application students at Ottawa’s Algonquin College and has launched a Kickstarter Campaign to hire a seasoned professional to finish the project in time for its release this summer.  SitterAdvantage is an app designed for sitters, nannies, youth workers and teachers that will be used to keep the kids happy and entertained without electronics while providing access to emergency help in the palm of their hands.

The SitterAdvantage Kickstarter campaign features rewards designed for sitters and nannies that they can use.  Our largest reward features the WTDWTK Creativity Programs, held (almost) anywhere in the United States and Canada for up to 40 kids.

The SitterAdvantage app allows the sitter to enter important information about the parents including their names and contact information.   A profile is also created of each kid which includes their name, birthday and any allergies, handicaps or disabilities they may have.  The photo feature allows the sitter to take a photograph of the kid which is inserted into their profile and can be used in the event the kid goes missing.

The task feature allows the sitter to schedule any important instructions the parents may give them such as bed time or when they need to administer medication.  Parents can now feel confident that their instructions will be followed.

The resource feature offers checklists for the sitter that will help them determine if they want to work for that family, how to prepare for each job and what to look for when they arrive.  It also features links to What To Do With The Kids® for games, crafts and activities that they can do with the kids.

Since a sitter or nanny’s first responsibility is to keep the kids safe, an emergency icon is available on every page of SitterAdvantage.  Once pressed, the emergency page opens and a red bar with “Call 911” appears.  Once selected, the smart phone automatically dials and places the call in speaker mode.  In case of a medical emergency, the sitter can go to the kids section to view their information.  If the kid goes missing, the photograph can be sent and used by the authorities to help find them.

If the sitter is away from the home, such as at the park with the kids, selecting the “Find my Location” icon will use the smart phone’s GPS to pinpoint their location so help can find them.  The parents can also be contacted immediately through a text or by telephone at the touch of an icon.  The two-step process to get emergency help is designed to prevent accidentally dialing emergency services.

There are many apps available that can help parents find a babysitter but SitterAdvantage is the app that can make the sitter or nanny better at their job and offer parents peace of mind knowing their kids are safe.

Kickstarter is the crowdfunding website that allows people to support new and exciting business ventures like SitterAdvantage with the finances needed to bring their product to market.

What To Do With The Kids® (WTDWTK) is the website that adults go to when they want to know what to do with their kids.  The site features games, crafts, activities, party ideas, downloads, directories, product reviews and articles of interest to parents.  The website is based on the self-published book of the same name by Brian Presley and comes from his years as a youth counselor and program director with the local Boys and Girls Club.  He has also been a stay-at-home dad for the past 16 years.
