HIGH RIVER, AB: High River Council is pleased to announce that Tom Maier has been appointed as the new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) for the Town. Maier has been High River’s acting CAO since January and has been the Town’s Chief Financial Officer since 2011.
“Tom has passion, experience and a positive attitude, as well as an openness that staff appreciate and respect,” said Mayor Craig Snodgrass. “He has already served our town for many years as a diligent Chief Financial Officer and he has the full support of Council to implement our strategic plan going forward.”
Maier is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) and has worked in municipal government since 1987, spending several years in Ontario before moving to Alberta where he joined the Town of Banff as Director of Corporate Services for 12 years.
Maier has a passion for long-range financial planning and implemented the first ever 10-year financial strategy plans for both Banff and High River. Tom is an avid mountain adventurer and has completed multiple Ironman triathlons and is a Boston Marathon finisher.
“I am honoured to have the opportunity to lead this incredibly dedicated team of people,” said Maier. “Together, we will take the strategic vision that Council has developed and translate it into positive, tangible change that will secure High River as a community of choice that is a great place to live, work, play and invest.”
Town of High River staff are excited to move into a new era with exciting challenges and opportunities and will strive to continue to serve the community with the highest level of service.
