3 Avenue SW Reopening October 31, 2014 with Major Lane Change

High River AB: Third Avenue southwest is reopening by end of today and will no longer be a one way road.  Vehicle traffic will now flow in both directions.

The change to two-way traffic flow is part of the overall Downtown Area Redevelopment Plan to simplify traffic circulation and provide local businesses with more visibility. Angle parking along the road has also been removed and replaced with parallel parking.

The intersection at 3 Avenue S.W. and 1 Street S.W. will be signed and operating as a four-way stop. Electronic signage will also be in place to alert drivers to the two-way traffic flow.

Drivers and pedestrians are reminded to watch for two-way traffic.

The repair and reconstruction of 3 Avenue SW is part of High River’s multi-year infrastructure repair and reconstruction program that was made possible by a 15 million dollar Critical Infrastructure Grant from the Government of Alberta.
