Between Friends is a charitable organization that creates opportunities for people with disabilities to connect, grow, and belong through self-development, social and recreational activities. Through our programs, we endeavor to enrich self-esteem, quality of life, and mental and physical health and increase the community’s awareness of their fellow citizens with disabilities. Between Friends was originally established in 1970, as the Pink Pelican Club, by a group of parents seeking community activities for their teenagers with disabilities. The Pink Pelican Club rapidly expanded to all ages. In 1982, the organization obtained registered charitable status and a new name.
