23rd Annual Knapweed Rodeo in Waterton Lakes National Park


Parks Canada invites volunteers to the 23rd Annual Knapweed Rodeo weed pull in Waterton Lakes National Park!

knapweed rodeo Livia Alexander naThe 23rd Annual Knapweed Rodeo is the perfect opportunity for those who want to dig in, get their hands dirty and contribute to the protection of Waterton Lakes National Park.This volunteer event takes place on July 23, 2016 starting at 9:30am. Volunteers will work side by side with Parks Canada experts to help contain the spread of non-native spotted knapweed and restore the natural habitat of the endangered halfmoon hairstreak butterfly!

The event also includes a picnic, door prizes and friendly competitions. This year, the Knapweed Rodeo is part of a circuit of weed pulls organized in cooperation with the Nature Conservancy of Canada and the Castle-Crown Wilderness Coalition.
