Rowan House raising money for Preventative Education programming

High River, AB – Rowan House Emergency Shelter is thrilled to once again be a participating charity in the Birdies for Kids program, presented by AltaLink.

The program runs now through to the Shaw Charity Classic August 31st – September 4th.

Golf-enthusiasts and donors can make either a one-time flat donation or a pledge for each birdie made by PGA Tour Champions during the event.

“It’s a great way to get a little more excited about this world-class sporting event, while making a difference for the shelter at the same time,” said Rowan House Community Relations Coordinator, Ally Cramm. “And what’s even better is they have a matching program to stretch your donation further.”

According to the Shaw Charity Classic, 858 birdies were made in 2015 and 875 are estimated to be made this year. So for example, a pledge of 5 cents/birdie and 875 birdies made is a donation of $43.75.

“Every little bit helps,” explained Cramm. “We sent a call to action to our Friends of Rowan House email list made up of 750 subscribers. If everyone who received that email made a small $5.00 donation, that would become a $3,750 donation to be matched by this program.”

Proceeds raised through Birdies for Kids will go toward Rowan House’s Preventative Education program – providing education and early intervention to break the cycle of violence.

People can visit the News and Events page at www.rowanhouse.ca for more information or to make their donation.
