HIGH RIVER, AB: Crews from ArborCare Tree Service Ltd. will be removing two large Town-owned poplars on 8 Ave. S.E. on Tuesday, April 26 and Wednesday, April 27. The process will require a temporary closure of 8 Ave. S.E. between 1 Street S.E. and 2 Street S.E. from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both days.
The road closure is necessary due to the proximity to power lines and traffic will be detoured using 2 Street S.E. and 7 Avenue S.E.
Residents are asked to use caution when travelling through the area and watch for heavy equipment and work crews.
Removal is required as the trees have aged and are becoming fragile, causing structural issues and potential safety risks.
In determining the health of trees in High River, staff and outside experts examine the foliage colour, density, annual shoot growth, wound wood development and overall vigor.
