High River RCMP – Drug Trafficking
High River, Alberta   –  On April 9, 2016 the High River Detachment of the RCMP conducted a traffic stop and searched a residence in the Community for illegal drugs.  The searches resulted in the seizure of Valium ($300.00 in value) Methamphetamine ($2900.00 in value), and crack cocaine ($3900.00 in value).  The total value of drugs seized was $7100.00, along with $5930.00 in cash and prohibited weapon, a knife which could be opened with a spring assist.

Dawn Cabelka 32 years of age from High River was charged with 3 counts of Possession of a Scheduled Drug for the Purpose of Trafficking and 1 count of Possession of a Prohibited Weapon.  She was  remanded into custody pending a Court Appearance for April 11th, 2016 in Calgary.

Cochrane RCMP investigating serious collisions
Morley Alberta, AB: On 2016-04-08 at 5:35 pm Cochrane RCMP received a complaint of two motorcycles that rolled into the ditch on Highway 1A, 9.8 Kilometres West of Morley Road. Preliminary  investigation revealed that  two motorcycles were travelling together when one of the motorcycles lost control and went off the road ejecting the rider some distance. The second motorcyclist saw this and hit his brakes. This caused the second motorcyclist to loose control as well and hit a guard rail. The second motorcyclist has serious injuries and was airlifted by STARS to Foothills Hospital. The first motorcyclist had what was believed to be non-life threatening injuries and was taken to hospital by ground ambulance.

Both lanes of the highway were shut down. It is unclear as of yet if charges will be laid in this incident.

Gleichen RCMP arrest suspect for threats to police

Gleichen RCMP, Siksika Nation – On April 8th, 2016 at approximately 17:00 hrs Gleichen RCMP received threats via phone. The threats were specific of harm and death.  The threats were solely directed towards Gleichen RCMP Police Officers.

Upon investigation, Gleichen RCMP were able to identify and locate a suspect responsible. The suspect was arrested without incident and subsequently transported to hospital under the Mental Health Act, where the suspect is to receive professional psychiatric care.

RCMP Pincher Creek – Search Warrant- Drug Arrests

On April 7th 2016 Pincher Creek RCMP executed a drug search warrant on a local hotel room in the town of Pincher Creek Alberta.

Four (4) Pincher Creek residents were arrested and face numerous charges under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

The suspected drugs seized include Cocaine, Crack Cocaine, Methamphetamine, and Heroin, as well as numerous pills.

David Bradley PRIEST, 54 yrs old, faces eight counts, one charge of producing a controlled substance, four counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking a controlled drug, and four counts of unlawful possession of a controlled drug,

Meranda White, 33 yrs old, faces eight counts, one charge of producing a controlled substance, four counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking a controlled drug, and four counts of unlawful possession of a controlled drug, and one count of driving while unauthorized,

Kathryn CHAPIN, 30 yrs old, faces eight counts, one charge of producing a controlled substance, four counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking a controlled drug, and four counts of unlawful possession of a controlled drug,  and one count of possession of a prohibited weapon,

Natalie Ann NEWTON, 46 yrs old, faces eight counts, four counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking a controlled drug, and four counts of unlawful possession of a controlled drug.

The four persons charged were released on numerous conditions, and have a first appearance date in Pincher Creek Provincial Court in the next several weeks.

Over 3 ounces of suspected Crack Cocaine was seized, as well as a small quantity of what is believed to be Methamphetamine, and Heroin.All the suspected drugs will be sent to the lab to confirm what they are.

This quantity of hard drugs is a big concern for all Emergency Services in Pincher Creek and the surrounding communities, anyone using these types of drugs has a huge impact on the entire community, families and the Emergency responders that have to attend to all the problems that come with the use of illegal drugs.
