Crowsnest Pass RCMP Attend Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision

Lundbreck, Alberta – On April 3rd, 2016 at approximately 8:25 pm, Crowsnest Pass RCMP, along with Lundbreck and Pincher Creek Emergency Services, responded to a serious Motor Vehicle Collision on Highway 3A, approximately 3 kilometres east of Lundbreck, Alberta.

The driver and 5 other occupants of the 4 door sedan were travelling West on Highway 3A, when they lost control and drove over a small embankment.

An 8 year old passenger of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver and remaining passengers of the vehicle were treated for minor injuries.

Alcohol is not a factor.

Crowsnest Pass RCMP and RCMP Collision Analyst Services continue to investigate the occurrence.

RCMP Airdrie – Serious Motor Vehicle Collision

Airdrie, Alberta – Around 5:15pm Sunday, April 3rd, RCMP Airdrie Rural, Sheriffs and Emergency crews were on scene of a serious traffic collision on Highway 2, 4 Kilometres South of Highway 72. The area was blocked by debris and emergency crews. A Collision analyst was on scene also.

A 4 year old child was airlifted by STARS to hospital in Calgary and a female driver has been arrested for Impaired Operation.

The investigation is currently ongoing.

High River RCMP Pursuit of an Armed Person
On April 1st, 2016, at approximately 8:06 pm, High River RCMP responded to a suspicious person/vehicle complaint near 402 avenue and 208 street E in the M.D. of Foothills. The complainant stated that an unknown male was standing in their yard holding a large machete near a white pickup truck. Police immediately attended the scene and when challenged by police at gun point to exit the vehicle, the lone male occupant of the pickup truck fled the scene into a field. RCMP engaged in a 20 minute pursuit with the suspect who was operating a stolen vehicle. The male crashed through several farm fences to attempt to evade capture from police. The stolen truck eventually became stuck and police engaged the male in a foot pursuit. The male was taken into custody moments later. 30 year old Rodney Allan ARISS of Calgary has been charged with: 2 counts of Assault with a Weapon, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Flight from Police, Mischief over $5000, Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle, and 3 counts of Fail to Comply with Conditions of a Recognizance. ARISS remains in Custody awaiting a Judicial Interim Release Hearing. Significant damages were incurred to several fences in the area as well as to the stolen vehicle involved. Thankfully no person was injured as a result of the pursuit.
