Emergency Shelter’s Annual Fundraiser Almost Two-Thirds Sold
High River, AB – The countdown is on as Rowan House Emergency Shelter hits the one month mark until its annual Hope & Healing Gala. The event, set for Saturday April 23rd, plans to be another entertaining evening with an important message, and a few tickets are still available.
“Rowan House is well aware of the realities and impact of these tough economic times,” said Executive Director, Sherrie Botten. “We went into this planning year with lower expectations and have been pleasantly surprised that we’ve still been able to sell almost two-thirds of our tickets so far.”
“We just want to share our utmost gratitude with the Foothills community for its continuing support,” she added.
The evening features entertainment by the Tanya Ryan Band, a live and silent auction and your chance to win two tickets anywhere WestJet flies.
While it’s always an enjoyable evening, it’s also about awareness of domestic abuse and the need to raise vital funds to maintain the current level of services and programming offered by Rowan House at no charge. Botten says, “It costs over $200 per person, per day, to meet the needs of the women and children in the shelter. If we sell out the event like we did last year, those ticket sales are the equivalent of supporting just over 300 women or children the day they arrive at Rowan House.” Guests will be able to hear from a past resident just what that first day in shelter was like and how Rowan House made a difference in her life.
Tickets are $200 each or $1,400 for a table of 8. They can be purchased by calling 403-652-3316 or visiting www.rowanhouse.ca
