The fourth game in the 2016 TELUS Stampeders Basketball Program saw a visit to the nearby town of Millarville on Thursday afternoon for a fun-filled contest at Millarville Community School.
The likes of Andrew Buckley, Ben D’Aguilar, Rene Paredes, Adam Thibault, Spencer Wilson, Quinn Smith and Brandon Boudreaux picked up a 42-32 victory over the boys and girls representing the Wildcats.
A packed gymnasium saw Buckley score an uncontested lay-up after a crafty pass-fake under the hoop before Boudreaux sank a long jump-shot just as the fourth quarter buzzer sounded.
Ralph the Dog and Ashleigh of the Outriders energized the crowd before all seven Stamps basketball players signed post-game autographs for each and every Millarville student.
A Stamps team-signed jersey was awarded to the male player of the game. The most outstanding female player walked away with a Fitbit provided by TELUS, and the program’s title sponsor also distributed Selfie Sticks to four spirited fans who cheered on their school from beginning to end.
Next on the schedule for the 2016 TELUS Stampeders Basketball Program is a showdown with Red Deer Lake School at noon on Wednesday, March 23. Now past the mid-way point of their season, the Stamps will look to finish strong with just three games remaining.

About the Calgary Stampeders Off-Season Basketball Program, presented by TELUS.
For nearly a quarter-century, the Stampeders have been visiting school gymnasiums in and around Calgary, giving youngsters the chance to go head-to-head with professional athletes.
In addition to current players and staff, Stampeders alumni also get in on the fun while Ralph the Dog will be up to his usual hijinks. Mark Stephen of News Talk 770, the voice of the Stampeders, makes occasional appearances at the games to provide pre-game intros and some play-by-play. TELUS, a proud partner of the Stampeders, will also be on hand to give out prizes.
“Health and wellness is very important to us,” said Shadi Sakr, TELUS sports sponsorship manager. “By partnering with the Calgary Stampeders Off-season Basketball program, we are encouraging youth to play and exercise while getting a chance to meet their favourite football stars.”
