Foothills School Division: Healthy Active School Symposium

Employee Services Assistant Superintendent Allen Davidson congratulated Blackie Principal Fred Woods, FSD’s Comprehensive School Health Lead, and participating School Health Champions on a highly successful Healthy Active School Symposium (HASS) on January 8 at the Highwood Memorial Centre in High River.

Organized in partnership with Ever Active Schools, these symposium was designed to inspire local students to be wellness leaders in their school and add their “voice” to school wellness action planning. The day involved more than 200 participants, including 150 students in grades 4 to 12 representing FSD, Christ the Redeemer Catholic Schools, Foundations for the Future Charter Academy and the Southern Francophone Education Region. Students had the opportunity to participate in a variety of wellness-related breakout sessions, including presentations by student groups from Red Deer Lake School and Percy Pegler.
