Wildrose Statement on Six-Month Anniversary of Fort McMurray Evacuation

EDMONTON, AB: Wildrose Fort McMurray MLAs Brian Jean and Tany Yao along with Wildrose Shadow Emergency Preparedness Minister Prasad Panda released the following statement, last week, to mark the six-month anniversary of the Fort McMurray fire evacuation:

“Today brings back many memories for the residents of Fort McMurray who were forced to flee their homes on such short notice.

“Our profound thanks goes to the selfless first responders who went above and beyond the call of duty on May 3, 2016, and in the days, weeks and months afterwards.

“We have come so far in the past six months, but there is much work still to do to rebuild our city and once again become the economic engine of Alberta, and Canada.

“Wildrose is focused on ensuring transparency and fairness during the rebuilding process in the allocation of donated funds, and for those navigating the insurance process.

“Every step of the way, the residents and business owners should know Wildrose is on their side, and is advocating for them with every level of government.”
