It’s purple! An underwater research team spotted this guy off the coast of California.

A Nautilus research team spotted this stubby squid off the coast of California at a depth of 900 meters (2,950 feet). A rather rare species, the stubby squid spends its life on the seafloor, burrowing into the sediment to camouflage, leaving its eyes poking out to spot prey like shrimp and small fish.

Bottom line: Video of stubby squid.
