Unofficial by-election results: Michael Nychyk elected as new Councillor for High River

HIGH RIVER, AB: Michael Nychyk has been elected to serve a one-year term as Councillor for the Town of High River after receiving 818 votes during the by-election held on October 17.

Please note, these results will become official as of Friday, October 21 as candidates are given additional time to request a re-count, if required.

The remaining votes were distributed as follows:

Jamie Kinghorn – 311

Sandra Wiebe – 176

Terry Coleman – 152

Total voters: 1,457

The by-election was held in order to fill the seat of former Councillor Peter Loran, who resigned in August.

Once the results are official, the new Councillor will be sworn in at the annual organizational meeting on October 24 for a one-year term ending in October, 2017.

There will be a full municipal election held in October, 2017 as all current Councillors will reach the end of their four year term.
