Administrator’s Message: Welcome to November!
Can you believe how fast the first two months of the school year have flown by? So much is happening that I’m afraid November will fly by as well. Please remember with the weather getting ready to change to remind your little ones to dress appropriately and place their name on clothing as our lost and found is growing rapidly.
The students and staff at Turner Valley School continue to work hard to achieve outstanding educational outcomes. It is great to see the learning taking all different shapes and forms, especially as teachers work with students on their individual needs.
Our fall student led conferences were held last week. These conferences bring the student into the assessment conversation so they understand what, why and how they are doing. It also gives them a voice in their learning and an opportunity to share their learning with you. Parents and teachers provide support that is vital to the success of all learners in our school community.
We know that before and after school the parking and traffic can be busy at times. As the safety of our little ones is our first priority, we express a big thank you for being respectful and working with our patrollers. These 10-11
year olds are working on responsibility and leadership and deserve to be treated with respect for what they are trying to do and they take their job very serious. Thanks for your support. Also, please park responsibly as there
are times when cars are too close to the crosswalk or too close to driveways and alleyway entrances, so please be considerate of our students and our community neighbours.
Our Fall Fling was a great success, thanks for those who were able to come and support it, we had a busy gym and our very own Hayden Mulder in Grade 6 was our DJ again this year and he did an amazing job. Our Remembrance Day assembly will be on Nov. 9th @ 1030am when we will honour the sacrifice made by so many for the privileges we value today and the freedom we have been given. Feel free to attend.
Don’t forget the School council meeting on Nov. 16th @ 6:30pm as a way to become involved in our school community.
Have a great November everyone.
Sincerely,
James Holladay and Debbie Reid
