Town of High River Seeking Applicants for Community Vitality Advisory Committee


HIGH RIVER, AB: The Town of High River is currently looking for residents to submit applications to sit on the recently formed Community Vitality Advisory Committee. This committee will make recommendations to council on how to best distribute the Community Vitality Fund to support citizen led initiatives and improve the quality of life in High River.

The Town believes that people build communities and that citizens are critical in contributing to the vitality and high quality of life in High River. The Community Vitality Fund is a way for the Town to provide monetary support and empower citizens to successfully complete projects that enhance the overall wellbeing of the town.

There are two streams of funding that residents can apply for. The Innovation Fund is for projects of $2,000 or less, while the Enhancement Fund is for projects with a budget over $2,000. Applications will be received and reviewed three times per year in January, May and September.

Members on the committee will be responsible for:

  • Receiving, assessing and making recommendations to council on the awarding of funds from the Community Vitality Fund.
  • Monitoring the awarded funds and updating Council accordingly.
  • Ensuring that effective communication and consultation with the community play a major role in the efforts of the committee to fulfill its purpose.

 

There are currently nine vacancies to fill with terms of one, two and three years in length.
