On Wednesday, October 19, the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta invested the newest members of the Alberta Order of Excellence.
The Albertans invested into the Order for 2016 are:
Barry Bultz (Calgary)
Barry Bultz is an inspiring pioneer in the development of psychosocial oncology in Canada. His dedicated leadership led to the establishment of global acceptance of screening for distress as the 6thvital sign for cancer patients.
Linda Hughes (Edmonton)
Linda Hughes is a respected and compassionate leader who has served her community as a reporter, Publisher and CEO of the Edmonton Journal, Chancellor of the University of Alberta, Chair of Alberta Health Services and an advocate for those in need.
Sheldon Kennedy (Calgary)
Sheldon Kennedy is a tireless advocate who has changed the way abuse survivors are treated through his work at the Sheldon Kennedy Child Advocacy Centre and provides abuse awareness and prevention education through the Respect Group.
Leroy Little Bear (Lethbridge)
Leroy Little Bear is a globally renowned scholar, educator, author and advisor. He has inspired generations of students and played a role in some of the most important political achievements for Indigenous peoples around the world.
Michael Massey (Edmonton)
A celebrated pianist, teacher, music director and conductor of the Edmonton Youth Orchestra, Michael Massey is an accomplished musician who has led countless Albertans in the pursuit of excellence and the life-changing joy of musical performance.

The Alberta Order of Excellence is the highest honour the province can offer its citizens. Since the Order was created in 1979, 157 Albertans have been invested including this year’s new members.
