Taylor Statement on Bashaw Motel Fire, Hate Graffiti

EDMONTON, AB (October 13, 2016): Today, Wildrose Battle River-Wainwright MLA Wes Taylor released the following statement on news that racist vandals left hateful graffiti on a Bashaw motel before it burnt down.

“I’m beyond disappointed and heartbroken for the owners and residents of the motel, the Tiwana family, and for all those impacted from the loss of life as a result of the fire.

“We in no uncertain terms condemn this act of hatred towards members of our community.

“I have been extremely encouraged with how our community has rallied around the Tiwana family and raised $8,000 for them in just two days.

“It’s the spirit of Albertans to come together during challenging times, and I believe our community will continue to reflect the very best of this spirit.”
