Start Your New Year with Free Rides Courtesy of On-It Regional Transit

Ride the system for free Mondays and Fridays for the month of January

After an extremely successful launch season, On-It Regional Transit is giving Calgary Region residents a chance to experience the system for free.

It’s also an opportunity to take a stress-free commute, save some money and avoid the treacherous winter driving conditions.

Starting January 3, 2017, regular commuters and new riders can ride free on the 55-seat bus service.

“In the New Year, the CRP is offering a one-time promotion that will give riders a chance to try the system for free on Mondays and Fridays, until the end of January,” says Calgary Regional Partnership (CRP) Executive Director Colleen Shepherd. “We’ve had a lot of early adopters happy to give up the battle for parking spaces and to take advantage of a smooth, undistracted ride from home to office.”

The On-It service is currently serving riders from Black Diamond, High River, Okotoks and Turner Valley.

“We’ve seen community members embracing an escape from the dense commute experience. On-It riders are also getting cars off the road, which helps with traffic flow in general,” says Ettore Iannacito, ‎Regional Transit Program Manager at the Calgary Regional Partnership (CRP). “Taking advantage of that commuting time to get work done, or just to rest, has a noticeable impact on workplace stress and efficiency, and these free rides give everyone in these communities a chance to experience that.”

The On-It service will be running as usual on a Monday-Friday peak commuting period schedule during the month.

The only difference is that all rides on Monday and Friday will be free!

Visit the On-it schedules page for details on stops and pickup times.

If you are looking to buy tickets and passes for Tuesday to Thursday rides in January and future months, they can be purchased at your local municipal centres and vendors
