HIGH RIVER, AB: There are several large events happening in High River from September 23 to 25 that will result in traffic disruptions throughout the community.
Friday, Sept. 23, 2016 from 7 to 10 p.m.:
High volume of traffic and limited parking in the downtown and Spitzee Elementary school for the Balloon Night Glow
The Heritage Inn International Balloon Festival will be holding the Balloon Night Glow at Spitzee School. There will be no road closures, but it is expected that there will be a high volume of vehicles moving through the area.
Volunteers will be helping to direct vehicles to parking prior to the event starting. The RCMP will be assisting with traffic control after the event.
Attendees are encouraged to car pool or walk to the event if possible. Limited public parking will be available near the Library, Charles Clark Medical Centre, George Lane Park, downtown parking lots or street parking around the Spitzee School area.
Please respect nearby residences by not parking across or blocking driveways. Parking in alleys is not permitted.
Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016 from 3 to 8 p.m.:
Centre Street closed from the 12 Avenue S.E. to 7 Avenue S.E.
This section of Centre Street will be closed as part of the River City Classic Burnout event. Temporary truck route signs will be posted. Event organizers have been communicating with the RCMP and High River Fire Department to ensure all safety requirements are met.
Sunday, Sept. 25, 2016 from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.:
Most of downtown High River will be closed for the River City Classics Show n’ Shine
Vehicle registration will begin at 7 a.m. and the downtown will begin to fill up with vehicles. At 10 a.m. the Show n’ Shine will officially start and there will be no vehicle access to the downtown.
