Have Your Say in Shaping Solutions to Alberta’s Job Crisis

High River, AB – On October 3, 2016, the Conservative Alberta Caucus officially launched the Alberta Jobs Taskforce. The Taskforce will collect information and produce a report containing tangible policy solutions and budget requests for the Liberal Government, all while drawing attention to Alberta’s unemployment problem that is of growing national concern.

As the jobs crisis in Alberta gets worse, families need the Liberal government to present solutions. Yet thus far, the Government announced massive deficit spending and has failed to put forward any sort of a jobs plan. Skilled workers across the province are struggling and it is our responsibility as federal representatives to ensure every possible solution is examined in order to get Albertans back to work so they can continue to provide for their families.

The Conservative Alberta Caucus will be listening to everyday Albertans, employers, small businesses, social assistance organizations, workers and other stakeholders – all of whom are affected by the current jobs crisis and have valuable insight and ideas to share.

If you have been affected by the Alberta jobs crisis or have ideas on solutions needed from the Federal Government to get Albertans back to work, please join John Barlow, MP Foothills on November 8, 9 or 10th for a discussion. These meetings will take place in Springbank, Claresholm, Pincher Creek and Okotoks.

You are also invited to share your views and experiences at www.albertajobstaskforce.ca. Your ideas will help shape real solutions for the future of Alberta.

Quotes

“There are real people behind the unemployment numbers. The Canadian economy, and the growth and prosperity we’ve come to expect, will lag behind until Alberta is strong again. A strong Alberta means a strong Canada and a strong Canada must include Alberta.”

– The Honourable Rona Ambrose, Leader of the Official Opposition

“I’ve heard from many people throughout southern Alberta who have been impacted by the current economic reality in Alberta. People who have lost their job, are worried for their family’s future and are trying to hold on to their home. The Liberal government’s out-of-control spending is making matters worse, therefore, it is absolutely critical to have these taskforce roundtables and listen to Foothills residents who will have ideas and suggestions on solutions to regain Alberta’s strong economy.”

– John Barlow, Member of Parliament for Foothills
