Remembrance Day Services in the Foothills

Lest We Forget…On Remembrance Day, Canadians come together as a nation to honour and remember Canada’s Veterans, and all of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice on our behalf in times of war, armed conflict and peace. (Town of Okotoks)

Take time to remember at the Okotoks Remembrance Day Service. Doors open at 9 am, service starts at 10:20am.
Venue is wheelchair accessible.

NEW LOCATION, MORE SPACE: Pason Centennial Arena
204 Community Way, Okotoks

The Okotoks Remembrance Day Service has moved to the Pason Centennial Arena. Attendance had outgrown the previous venue (the Foothills Centennial Centre). The new location seats 2,400 people, with an additional standing capacity of 500, which is nearly triple what the previous venue could accommodate. Pason Centennial Arena is located next door to, and just north of, the Foothills Centennial Centre.

Parking: Attendees are encouraged to carpool or walk, if possible.

Okotoks Remembrance Day Ceremony at the CENOTAPH

Setup starting at 9:30am
SERVICE – 10:30am to 12 noon

The cenotaph is located in Frederick Price Memorial Park on the corner of Veterans Way (formerly Centre Ave) and Elma Street.


Each year, on the eleventh hour on the eleventh day of the eleventh month, we observe Remembrance Day across Canada. Every year we gather in community halls, memorial parks, schools, living rooms and more to observe a moment of silence and to mark the sacrifice and honour of so many. (High River Legion)

Highwood Memorial Centre will once again host the Remembrance Day Services. The Colour Party will leave the High River Legion at 9:30am, arriving at the Memorial Centre by 9:45am. The Memorial Centre is located at 128 – 5th Ave W. The Colour Party will depart following the service at 11:05am and march back to the Legion (25 Veteran’s Way (8 Ave) SE). An Open House will be hosted by the Legion from 11:30am to 2:30pm with a lunch.


The Remembrance Day services for the western Foothills area will be held at the Oilfields High School in Black Diamond (enter at the back doors on the south side of the building) beginning at 10:30am. There will be a buffet brunch and social following at the Turner Valley Legion (121 Sunset Blvd SE).

NOTICE: Parking may be limited due to a hockey tournament at the arena beginning at 9:45am and lasting all day. Make arrangements to carpool if possible.

November 10th – Black Diamond

The Griffiths Memorial Centre will also be holding their annual Veterans Dinner the night before starting at 5:30pm. On the menu is Lasagna, Caesar salad, garlic toast, desserts, coffee, tea and juice. Adults- $15 Veterans- $10 Children (6-12) – $5
