High River RCMP seek public assistance to identify counterfeit suspect

On June 25, 2016, a male entered the High River Co-op grocery store and passed a counterfeit Canadian $50 bill to one of the cashiers.  The male is shown in the picture attached.  High River RCMP are requesting assistance to identify the male.  Anyone with any information is asked to contact the High River RCMP at 403-652-2357.

High River RCMP arrest dangerous man in a residence on numerous weapon related charges High River Alberta
On October 8, 2016 at approx. 0200 am, High River RCMP responded to a call for service to a residence in northeast High River after a female reported that she has been threatened with a firearm. A 34 year old High River man was arrested on scene. The male was also wanted on five outstanding arrest warrants. The male currently remains in custody and has been charged with 12 counts pursuant to the Criminal Code including:
  • Two counts of Assault with a Weapon
  • Two counts of Uttering Threats to Cause Death
  • Two counts of Using an Imitation Firearm in the Commission of an Indictable Offence
  • One count of Possession of a Prohibited Weapon
  • One count of Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Four counts of Failing to Comply with Conditions
The 34 year old male is scheduled to appear in Calgary Provincial Court on Tuesday October 11th, 2016.
Thankfully no person was injured during this high-risk incident.

Crowsnest Pass RCMP – Two Vehicle MVC

On October 9th, 2016 at approximately 11:45am, Crowsnest Pass RCMP responded to Motor Vehicle Incident involving two vehicles on Highway 22, approximately 50 kilometres north of Maycroft, AB. The incident occurred after a northbound sedan went into the opposing traffic lane and collided with a southbound SUV. The driver and lone occupant of the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and lone occupant of the SUV was airlifted by STARS.
The name of the deceased is not being released at this time, pending notification of family.
The RCMP’s investigation into the accident is still ongoing.

Crowsnest Pass RCMP investigate a fatal motor vehicle collision

 Crowsnest Pass, Alberta – On Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at 5:30 a.m., Crowsnest Pass RCMP, Fire Department, and Emergency Medical Services responded to a fatal motor vehicle collision on highway 3, east of Bellevue, Alberta.

A westbound sedan collided with an eastbound pick-up truck.  The driver of the pick-up truck died as a result of the collision, the driver of the sedan was treated for minor injuries.  A third vehicle was involved after the initial collision resulting in property damage.

The RCMP in Crowsnest Pass and the RCMP Collision Analyst continue to investigate this collision.  All possible contributing factors relating to the cause of this collision are being investigated.  The identity of those involved  is not being released at this time until proper notifications can be made.

Search Warrant & Seizure of Stolen Property by Okotoks RCMP

Okotoks, AB – On October 7, 2016 Okotoks RCMP executed a search warrant at a residence on South Railway in Okotoks, AB related to an ongoing possession of stolen property investigation.  A stolen trailer valued at $8,000 was recovered.  While conducting the search, two adult females attended the address and were found in possession of additional stolen property.  Davanna Laplante age 25 (no fixed address) was subsequently charged under the Criminal Code for Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5000.00 and two counts of Breach of Conditions.  She is scheduled to appear at Okotoks Provincial Court on October 21st, 2016.
