RCMP Major Crimes South lay second degree murder charge following domestic altercation
Morley, Stoney First Nation, Alberta – On October 1 at 10:31 p.m., Cochrane RCMP responded to a complaint of a stabbing at a residence in Morley.
The 42-year-old male, of Morley, was located outside of the residence, and declared deceased on scene. An autopsy was performed at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Calgary earlier this morning confirming the manner of death.
46-year-old Vanessa Poucette, of Morley, was arrested without incident and transported to the Cochrane RCMP Detachment. RCMP Major Crimes South Unit, with the assistance of Cochrane RCMP Detachment, has maintained carriage of this investigation.
Vanessa Poucette has been charged with second degree murder and remains in custody. She is scheduled to attend court in Calgary on October 6 at 9:00 a.m. The victim has been identified as Brennon Riley Twoyoungmen.
No other people were injured during this incident and at no time was there any danger to other persons.
This matter, including the investigation information, is now a matter before the courts.
Okotoks RCMP recover stolen vehicles, multiple criminal charges laid
Okotoks, Alberta – On October 1st, 2016 at approximately 3:30 pm Okotoks RCMP were dispatch to a Break and Enter to a garage where several items were reported stolen. At approximately 3:45 pm, a second Break and Enter to garage was reported. A suspect and a vehicle was identified by the Okotoks RCMP where the suspect’s vehicle was confirmed as stolen.
At approximately 5:20 pm, a motor vehicle was observed driving erratically in the Town of Okotoks. The same vehicle was reported in a collision at approximately 5:25 pm by an off duty Okotoks RCMP Officer. The mater was further investigated and three stolen vehicles were recovered.
Okotoks RCMP arrested a lone male occupant identified as 28 year old, Stephen Bruce WESTFALL. WESTFALL has been charged with: possession of stolen property over x 2, possession of stolen property under x 3, break & enter x 2, mischief over, obstruction of a police officer, impaired operation of a motor vehicle, drive over .08 mg, and drive while suspended under the Traffic Safety Act.
WESTFALL was taken before a Justice of the peace and remanded in custody at Calgary Remand Center.
