RCMP High River – Traffic Accident Update and Charges Laid


High River ITU Charges Male For 20 Counts of Possession of Stolen Property

Nanton, Alberta  –  On November 1, 2016, at 7 a.m.,  a vehicle stop was conducted by members of the High River Integrated Traffic Unit for Provincial offences.  Subsequent investigation led to the arrest of a lone male for possession of a stolen vehicle and substances listed within the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

As a result of further investigation, a 41 year old male from Calgary is facing 20 Criminal Code charges of Possession of Stolen Property, one charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance,  and 23 Provincial offence violations.  Many of these offences involved altering and producing invalid license plates from stolen license plates.

The name of the accused is not being released until such time as the charges have been sworn.  The accused is scheduled to appear in Provincial Court in Fort Macleod on December 7, 2016.

UPDATE – Fatal Collision – Highway 2

On November 1, 2016 at approximately 7:15 AM, High River RCMP responded to a collision on the Northbound lanes of Highway 2. Three vehicles, all travelling North, were involved in the collision which occurred approximately 5 km North of High River.

A 46 year old male was deceased at the scene and the Notification to the Next of Kin has been completed.   No names are being released at this time.
Police are still requesting the assistance of anyone who may have witnessed this collision.
