RCMP High River: Theft, Missing Man, Accident


High River RCMP investigate fatal motor vehicle collision

High River, Alberta – At 11:55 p.m. on September 29, 2016, High River RCMP were dispatched to a serious two vehicle collision on Highway 2, approximately six kilometres south of High River.

Preliminary investigation reveals that an SUV travelling northbound collided head-on with a car travelling southbound.

The female driver of the car has been confirmed deceased, and the 32-year-old male driver of the SUV has been transported via STARS air ambulance to a Calgary Hospital.

One lane of travel was open northbound and traffic was diverted southbound while the RCMP were on scene.  An RCMP collision analyst attended.  All possible contributing factors into this collision are being investigated.

There is no further information available at this time; RCMP members are actively investigating.  An update will provided when available.

Ashcroft RCMP is seeking the public’s assistance in locating missing person Vance Clifford Lewis, of Ashcroft, BC.

On Tuesday September 20, 2016, family members of Vance Clifford Lewis reported him as missing to the Ashcroft RCMP.  45 yer old Vance Clifford Lewis, had not been seen since Saturday afternoon, September 17th, in Ashcroft, B.C.

On September 20, 2016 High River RCMP located LEWIS’s vehicle in the area of Mossleigh, Alberta, however have not located Lewis. It has not been confirmed at this time, whether Lewis drove his vehicle to it’s current location.

Vance Clifford Lewis is described as:

  • First Nations Male
  • height 168 cm
  • weight 64 kgs
  • hair brush cut black
  • goatee moustache
  • brown eyes
  • also goes by the names “Vinny” and “VC”

High River: Theft of Meat
On Saturday, September 17, 2016, at approximately 3:20 pm, a male entered the Co-op grocery store in High River.  The male proceeded to fill the shopping cart with approximately $500 worth of meat products.  The male then opened a box of black garbage bags and put all the meat into one of the bags.  The male exited the store with the meat and left on a silver and red bicycle.  On Sunday, September 18, 2016, at approximately 10:45 am, the same male again came into the Co-op and attempted to steal over $600 worth of meat and seafood.  Co-op staff recognized the male from the previous day and the male abandoned the cart full of meat inside the store and again fled on the same bicycle as the previous day.  The male and the bicycle are pictured in the video surveillance photographs attached.  The male appears to be 50-65 years old, with shoulder length gray/blond hair, with a slim build, approximately 5’9″ – 6’0″ tall.  If anyone recognizes the male shown, or has any information regarding these crimes, please contact the High River RCMP.
